Browsing at Ottomans online at Ballard’sDesign.com I came across this beautiful File Storage Ottoman. I love it for several reasons, the pro’s. The function of it can be placed in any room, closet, office space and it can be used as seating. The con is the price, this is a custom piece and you can pick from many different colors and patterns. The price ranges from $299.00-$419.00 ouch…. based on your fabric selection. Since I was planning to buy one any way I wanted to do it on a budget.
Here’s my version of the inspired Ballard’s Design ottomans. I scored these two at Ross for $49.00 each. When I first laid eyes on them, I didn’t realize that they had storage as well. I had to take them home with me.
Supplies, used to add some cuteness to the interior the (hot glue gun not shown).
I didn’t want it to be boring so, with the scrap fabric lying around I can finally put it to use. I ironed a few of the wrinkles so it can be smooth and wrinkle free.
First, I measured the interior top to fit the lid. Then I spaced the ribbon 6 inches apart vertically and horizontally, using super strength hot glue.
The added rhinestones for a little bling.
With my curtain rods installed, I added hanging letter sized pocket files.
Storage ottomans are great for any space. Especially small apartment living. It’s not only for filing papers. You can place throws, toss pillows, and office supplies. You can place an ottoman in a entry way and store hats, gloves, and scarves. You can purchase all types, shapes, sizes, and colors of ottomans. Try thinking outside of the box next time you are on your hunt for practical storage.
