DIY: Potting Bench Turned Outdoor Bar

Potting Bench Turned Outdoor Bar

For the longest I’ve been obsessing over having an Outdoor Bar on our covered back porch. My first time seeing this cart was Cyndy’s TheCreativityExchange . Her bar is totally awesome. I had to have one too. World Market was selling them for $159. Of course, I wasn’t going to pay that price. So I waited…and waited..and waited, until they marked it down to $37 YES!!!! Now is the time. Don’t get too excited. They were all sold out! 🙁

Potting Bench Turned Outdoor BarLuckly I was at the SAM’S Club getting stuff. And there I spotted a Potting Bench for $116. It was the very last one.

Okay…let the fun begin!!! After assembling all the pieces, I gave it two coats of Ebony MinWax Stain. I chose that color because it matches my outdoor funiture perfectly.

IKEA Kitchen Rail System

If you know me…you know I never leave well enough alone. I added some function. Hubby cut a piece of wood to apply to the back of the bench where the lattice would normally go. The Ikea kitchen Railing System is perfect placing some bar essentials for when we mix drinks.

Above the system is a shelf where we have liquor bottles.

Inside where the potting soil would be is a bucket of ice with a lid. The other side is more storage for extra drinks, straws, etc.

You can’t have a bar without a bottle opener. You can purchase one from World Market. Walmart had the perfect size towel bar for $10.98.

The bottom shelf  has more than enough room for a beverage cooler, mixers, and glasses.

An extra bonus is the drop down side table. Perfect for adding snacks.
