Oversized wall clocks has been on my want list for some time now. My issue was I wanted a particular size and color for our family/great room. The price for some are out of my price range. Wall clocks are not only functional but it can also give your home a decorative look to suit the style and feel of your home. So I attempted to make my own.
Here are some supplies you will need…
Hobby Lobby has tons of wall clock kits. The kit I purchased was regular price at $19.99, with their 40% off store coupon was a super savings.
First, things first! The pine round I got from Home Depot for $6.88. Rustic, with a little weathered look, was what I was going for. I had some leftover Miniwax Wood Stain in the garage. Applied it going in the direction of the wood grain. Let it dry overnight.
After it dried, I added sky blue craft paint. Applied it lightly with a damp clean cloth going with the grain of the wood. Let that dry for about 1/2 hour and then I added my second layer of a greyish color to tone down the blue. Gave it a light sanding in various places.
Now it’s time to add the clock kit. Determine the the center of the pine round I used a level and measure for the center. Drill the hole. Next, the hubster chilzzed a hole deep enough to set the kit inside. It needed to be deep enough to add the hands onto the kit.
Add your numbers. Once again I just eyeballed it. Cut out my numbers and placed them as straight as I could. Peel & stick. It’s your choice if you want to lean it up against the wall or hang it. If you want to hang it used a picture hanging kit.
Thanks Everyone! 🙂
