Over, the summer I posted a picture on instagram of this $3 Butler’s Tray Table. I snagged it from the flea market. This is the after. I flipped it into this gorgeous bedside table for my guest room. I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it. For that price I couldn’t say no.
Here’s what this removable tray table looked like before. It may have seen better days but it was still in perfect condition. It was just in need of a slight facelift.
Butler’s Trays are so trendy now but…they can be painfully expensive. They’re stylish and functional and you can have fun styling them with endless ideas. They are ideal for small spaces and apartment style living. Many are used as a bar tray, sofa end table, sick tray and even as a bedside table.
Making a decision on what the color of the table should be was simple. The color palette in this room is simple black, grey, and white. Light sanding, primer and white spray paint was applied lightly to the table. Next, I let it dry for about an hour and added a second coat.
While the table was drying I decided not to use the tray that came with it. It was way….to small next to the bed. Instead I used a different tray I purchased over the summer from Ross for $11.99. The bright apricot color wasn’t going to cut it. So I made a small change.
Easily, I could have left the tray table white but…why? Boring!!! I’m a big fan of any tray. I’ve been admiring the Chanel Tray for quite some time. But…. I certainly do not approve the price tag that comes with it. So I wanted to give it a try.
Simple! I printed the Chanel Logo, cut the letters, and logo then decoupage it onto the tray. Let dry overnight. I recommend getting plexi glass or glass cut to cover the tray insert to protect against from wear and tear.
Versatility and function is the best part of it. Guests can remove the tray and place onto the bed. There you have it ”breakfast in bed”.
I must say this was the best $3 ever spent.
