I must admit, I never knew your dishwasher can get dirty, until I had to call the dishwasher repairman. Last year he paid me a unexpected visit. When he took it apart I was embarrassed. All the grime build up can cause many problems for your dishwasher. He showed me how to clean it. I have been doing it ever since. This may look clean but underneath uhh… warning this is a little graphic.

Baking soda and vinegar is a great natural way to clean endless things in your home. Since the garbage disposal and dishwasher pipes run on the same line I cleaned the disposal. If you don’t clean your garbage disposal every now and then it may break and be in need of garbage disposal repair from Spartan Plumbing. So, using that ”old toothbrush” I scrub around the opening, poured vinegar let it sit for 10 min. Then rinsed with warm tap water.

After cleaning add lemon to freshen the drain.

Adding one lemonade packet is good for iron stains and lime deposits. Kool-Aid (lemonade flavor) the citric acid helps get tough stains out. Only use lemonade flavor because any other color can stain your dishwasher.
