How to Install a Sink Front Tip Out Tray

Rev A Shelf

Do you have false kitchen drawer fronts that’s only there for cosmetic purpose’s only? Well…you can turn your false kitchen drawer fronts into hinged drawers, and you can with a simple kit.

REV A SHELF

This is a Rev A Shelf. I purchased this from Lowe’s Home Improvement for $15.98. There’s no need to keep a wet unsightly sponge around your sink any longer. This a neat way to add some additional storage to your kitchen. This multi-purpose tip out tray can be easily installed in 30 min.

Wanting this kit forever, the hubster finally got the time to install one for me. First he traced around the drawer.

Next, he carefully removed the fronts. Inside were turnbuckles holding it in place. Some may be held with screws.

In this wonder kit, there’s a template to help determine the proper  placement. Use a pencil to mark where the screws should go.

Before drilling pilot holes place tape on the appropriate place on the drill bit. This will  ensure the right depth when you place your screws. Pilot holes helps keep the wood from splitting, and to help the screws go in easier.

Here he marked the area for the trays as well as the hinges (umm…sorry I didn’t get a pic of  him installing the hinges).

This multi-purpose tip out tray can not only be used in the kitchen. It can also be used in your bathroom to store tooth brushes, toothpaste, hair brushes and combs.

The awkward part about this project was drilling screws into the frame opening. The space was tight but, we made it happen. If you have 15-30 min to spare this is an easy and affordable way to add some extra storage and added function to your kitchen.
