Once again, my friend Cherie From ”LiveLoveLatte” has reached out to me and four (4) other fantastic ladies to do a collaboration on a ”Progressive Dinner Party”. What is a Progressive Dinner Party? The concept of a ”Progressive Dinner” is that you pick 3 or 4 people where each course is eaten at a different host/hostess house. The guests progress from house to house. Essentially it’s like a potluck. Instead of the food traveling to one location the guest will travel to each location of the food. Each of us has chosen a course and mine was ”pre-dinner cocktails”.
There’s a few things you need to do before you get started:
- Make a guest list
- Keep the homes close together
- Pick foods that can be prepared in advance
- Think about the ”kiddo’s”
The theme is ”American” so… my focus was on summer cocktails. Since, I was chosen to do ”pre-dinner cocktails,” I have chosen Barefoot wine. It’s the perfect summer time wine.
When you’re invited to someone’s home, it’s good to have the proper host/hostess gift when you arrive. It shows good etiquette. This white faux leather wine tote can be used as a hostess gift. I added wine and gourmet snacks to go with it. If your troubled thinking of a gift to give them don’t be. Try not to focus on the size or the price of the gift. Think about what they may want. It’s a lovely way to thank them for their hospitality and they will appreciate the thought.

Self serve beverage stations are the only way to go for me. It helps that everyone can custom make their own drinks. On my console table I placed three stacking jars I purchase last year on clearance. This year I was determined to use them. I placed flavored cubes and fresh fruit inside as garnishes for the beverages. It does not get any easier than self serve.
Ghirardelli Dark Chocolates umm…. were also out to pair with the wine.
If you have been following me for a while you know I love to re-use and re-purpose almost anything. The flute, wine, and mini martini glasses are sitting on top of a step stool. Placing glasses this way takes up less room on your table and it’s a way to display your pretty stemware.
A safer way to display kid friendly drinks is to place them across the room. Children in mind it’s a good idea to place kid friendly drinks on opposite side of the room. So their will be no confusion or accidents. An idea for a kid friendly beverage is a strawberry, peach, and sherbert ice cream whipped in a blender. It’s an all fruit drink without adding dairy.
I love this idea for two reasons. One, It takes the pressure off any one person to be the sole host of the party. The second is that it’s cost effective. All of the excitement of going from home to home well…..someone has to clean up right! I suggest make sure your dishwasher is empty the night before the party. Fill your kitchen sink up with warm soapy water and kindly tell everyone to place their dish inside when done. Then when you get back all you have to do is load the dishwasher. Boom! JOB DONE!~
